The History:

Beyond Basic Learning is a state-of-the-art nursery school operating in the waterfront redevelopment area of Hoboken, New Jersey with two locations -- Beyond Basic Learning North, 1330 Sinatra Drive North, and Beyond Basic Learning South, 336 Sina2012 Resize_BBLGrad_20100701_580tra Drive. Both schools boast breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline, which also serve as viable and relevant learning tools for the children. Some key advantages of the sites include the open space, bright sunlight, redevelopment of outdoor parks and proximity to residential homes, local businesses and transportation centers.

The story of how the first school was established is one of destiny and blessing. On a winter day in 2001, it was actually a ‘wrong’ ferry ride that positioned Zuleika into the ‘right’ place. Mistakenly boarding the ferry to Hoboken, she ended up on the north side of town where she came across a “For Lease” sign. After contacting the leasing agent, Zuleika learned that her name was Hope, to which she replied, "Hope, you must give me hope since I've been searching for close to two years for the perfect site for my new nursery school and have had no luck." From that moment onward, Hope became one of Beyond Basic Learning’sbiggest advocates and helped Zuleika obtain a hearing with the building owners. The landlord, Applied Development Company, immediately embraced the idea of developing a state-of-the-art nursery program in their building.

In 2006, Zuleika then had the opportunity to expand the relationship with Applied Development Company into a second venture.  Due to the high demand for enrollment, the school was unable to accommodate, not only the existing student's younger siblings, but the new families who were interested in enrolling their child.  So she agreed to open a second school .   Today, the second location also serves as the Headquarters for Beyond Basic Learning.
