Beyond the Basics of Reading - Selecting Books for Early Childhood Readers, which gets under way on Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Hoboken Historical Museum from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Her popular book, “Don’t Lick the Dog: Making Friends with Dogs,” which was just accepted to the Society of to the Society of Illustrator's Original Art Show, teaches young children good dog manners.  “While meeting a new dog can be exciting, children often don’t understand what dogs’ actions mean and can misinterpret a threatening signal for a friendly one and vice versa,” said Wahman.   “I use the book to show kids the best ways to interact with unfamiliar dogs through helpful tips about all sorts of dog behavior.”
